Food trucks have hit the road running, but that wasn’t always the case. A few WNY food businesses worried about their mobile competition have petitioned the Buffalo Common Council to make stricter food truck ordinances.
“We’ve been booted from property, kick off property in a hand full of locations primarily due to a lot of gray area with the code that’s written right now,” says Lloyd’s Taco Truck’s co-owner Pete Cimino.
In response, the WNY Food Truck Association has made their own petition:
Since then, the Buffalo Common Council has ruled that food trucks must be at least 100 feet from local brick-and-motar food businesses. Renewal fews to operate within in the city of Buffalo have also been reduced from $1,000 to $500.
