Description: This the 2nd annual Amherst Police Department Open House. Last year was the first year and we had over 500 people attend (in an absolute downpour throughout the entire event). We are hoping for better weather and expect to have a much larger turnout. The event is an outdoor event which will occur in the front parking lot and grassy areas of the police department. We will offer guided tours of the police department. Outside there will displays of police vehicles and equipment, fire department equipment and vehicles, kids games (yard games and inflatables, dunk tank – “dunk a cop”, etc.). We have also invited many of our community partners to set up a tent and engage the community, Amherst town rec dept doing face painting, connect life, animal rescue groups, other local businesses to meet and greet the community. And, weather pending, Erie County Air 1 will flyover, land and give tours of the helicopter. Last year Wegmans and Tops were onsite cooking hot dogs. We were hoping to do things a little different this year and set up an area for local food trucks.
